Fall Rummage Sale

While you’re busy squeezing in the last weeks of summer and gearing up for fall, please be sure to note on your calendar the upcoming dates of our fall rummage sale. October 19 & 20.

Woman’s Society has been rummaging for over 50 years. And, while Woman’s Society hosts the sales, they are all-church, gender-neutral events. In fact, the sales receive wide-spread support from Western Springs residents and surrounding communities. Traditionally, we have a sale twice a year in October and April. From set-up to tear-down, the event last 8 days, but 7.5 hours of actual sale hours often yields close to $30K in sales. After expenses are covered, the rest of the money is donated to local and national charities.

When rummage is in the air, the church literally buzzes with activity. People of all ages come through the doors from morning to night to help out as well as shop. The kitchen staff keeps the volunteers well fed, and complimentary childcare is provided for much of the week. What’s more: volunteers are entitled to shop early on Oct. 19. In addition to your time, however, we also need your gently-used rummage, which will be collected on October 15 and 16.

Watch for more information in early September. Working rummage is a wonderful bonding experience between members and a beautiful example of putting our faith into action. Everyone’s a winner!
