Since 1949, the First Congregational Church of Western Springs Preschool has successfully fostered a love of learning in young children with our play-based approach to early-childhood education.

We believe in the power of play.  Research on young children's learning and development proves how play strongly benefits a child's intellectual, social, emotional, physical and language development.

Children at play are actively involved in creating themes, exploring and establishing environments, solving problems, and developing shared understandings.  Through play, young children learn to see other's points of view, learn to use language in new ways, learn to interact with others, and develop their muscles and coordination.

Our mission is simple: to offer a developmentally rich program in a warm, loving environment, which helps to advance a young child's independence and positive self-concept, setting the stage for a lifetime of successful learning.

We offer preschool classes for children 2 ½ through 5-years-old.  Each class has two teachers.  Class sizes range from 12 to 20, based on age.  Every member of our preschool teaching staff is required to have a degree in education. Many of our teachers' children are graduates of our preschool program, and many live in Western Springs.

During the Wednesday class only, children may bring their lunch.  Juice and a snack are provided in both sessions.
Kids' Day Out is currently offered twice a week -- on Wednesdays from 11:30-2:45 and Friday morning from 9-noon.
